Memories part 2

I was just organizing the many picture folders in my com and I found some of these quite amusing.

My bed at KKB.
OSPE time:
- 2 blue anti-mosquito patches on the frame of the bed
- lab coat hung on the side of the bed
- laundry bed beside the lab coat
- my own mirror, hung on the bed frame
- self-provided yellow travel mattress (they have bed bugs, so I've heard)
- empty upper bunk to ventilation purposes

Salute!
I have no idea what Kher Lik was doing.

We drove all the way up to Fraiser's Hill on the late afternoon of the 2nd day. How adventurous and spontaneous.
Look! An entourage. Nisha was leading with her Lexus SUV ( biggest), then it was my X-Trail (medium) and the 3rd car was Xiyan's Honda City (smallest). Cool!

I remember seeing numerous monkeys on the way up, but my hands were busy steering instead of taking pictures. My co-pilot Marc didn't take pictures too. He was busy teasing the monkeys with the window down.

Marc: Come boy, come. (with his hand extended towards the monkeys)
Me: Marcus, don't do that! It's dangerous!
Michelle/Micheal Oh: Marcus! Put your hand back in and wind the window up! They might jump in since you look like one of them!!!

Hilarious! Micheal, with her unique sense of humour that was triggered by fear.

It was drizzling when we got up. The 3 female drivers were so afraid to drive downhill after dinner. We even considered staying the night at a resort (Smokehouse). We were hovering around the restaurant manager, asking for his advice for us driving downhill in a rainy night.

But, everything worked out fine, since we're all responsible and cautious drivers =) i'd like to think that.

So fun. I have more pictures! Till then.

Peace out!

Meet Veronica

I love my unemployed life =)

Juts received my pay cheque yesterday. AWESOME! This is the first time me earning some money! So cool!!! I've been showing my cheque off to my parents, hehe, very cheeky indeed.

--------------------------------------

Watched The Time Traveler's Wife with Chloe yesterday.

The show was not as nice as I expected it to be. Maybe 'cause I haven't been in the theatres for 2 whole months, so I expected a lot from it. It's okay, but if one hasn't read the book before, one would be lost of why he time travels. The movie didn't convey the message of why he travels. There were touching moments, but they're nothing a pirated DVD can't do.

Rachel McAdams was really beautiful, but she appeared to be super skinny in the after-sex scence. Her ribs and the spinous processes of her vertebrae were sooo prominent. Eric Bana, he just started getting my attention after I watched The Other Boleyn Girl. And Chloe, it's called the Scruffy look, not the Dirty look. HAHAH, "dirty" is used to describe pervs, or the opposite of clean.

Here's another scruffy example.

Scruffy's hot =)

------------------------------------------

Anyways, I was helping my mum (Van, this is how I spell the word, haha) preparing at the kitchen last night, and I met a new friend. Meet Veronica!

She was found among the corn husk and silk.

Look at her size, in comparison to grains of corn. I was just bored, haha.

Look how she twisted her body to resemble a leptospira interrogans!
?
Close up, baby!

I'M SO EXCITED FOR MY UK TRIP! HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY =)

Peace out, yo!

Unemployment

I'm officially unemployed!!!
I'm so glad that this whole working thing is over! I'm proud of myself for completing 2 months of it and would I do it again? Not in a million years yo! Job scope was terrible, too boring and unchallenging for me, but the people were warm, friendly and fun.
Now, I'm just waiting to collect my pay cheque. Can't wait, can't wait!!!
When I left yesterday, I realised that I had a few documents on the desktop which I forgot to delete! Not related to work, of course. My UK trip itinerary and a couple of medical articles. Oh well. What to do?
What have I learnt from this whole experience? Haha, I've learnt to appreciate the value of money so much more, of course! I'm so grateful that I'm going to be doing something that I enjoy for a living in the future (I hope). I wonder who enjoys sitting in an office executing a business market research everyday just to keep themselves alive. The people from work didn't seem like they enjoy their job, but they certainly enjoy meeting their colleagues everyday. Other than that, I can prepare simple meals now, since I packed almost all my own lunch everyday for the past month!
Till my pay cheque arrives, this is me, signing off!
Peace out!

Shallow

Five, 5, cinq, cinque, cinco baby! Counting down on the number of working days till the end of the month =)

Anyways, I just heard the interview of Jay Sean by Ryan Seacrest on air, and so Kamaljit Singh Jhooti, better known as Jay Sean sparked my interest in him. Well, to me, the most significant part of the interview was that before his singing career started 3 years back, he used to study MEDICINE for 3 years in the LONDON SCHOOL OF MEDICINE AND DENTISTRY!!!

When he was asked why did he pursue the current career of his instead of continuing in his studies, he answered in a jokingly manner, "Well, why would I wanna do that when I can have all these? I do what I like now, sing, dance, travel..." Okay, for just that, I don't respect him that much. Does it mean he wasn't responsible and mature enough to even consider the importance of having the simple interest and passion in Medicine before enrolling into the medical school? And I think, what he's doing now (singing, dancing and traveling) is much more "meaningful" than being a doctor. (check your sarcasm meter please)

Regardless how he thinks, he's good looking, haha, good enough for me. And he can sing too. If you don't agree, try listening to his falsetto at the end of the song "Down". Why can't such "medical student" be present in the medical school I went to? (not very sure about UNSW though =p fingers crossed!)

I like how Ryan Seacrest told him that, "You're incredibly smart, good looking, sing well, surrounded by beautiful and famous people and have the US Billboard no.1 single... You're making me sick!" Hahaha, very genuine and funny, I must say.

--------------------------------------------------

If anyone needs or wants to get me anything for whatever reason =p, anything from benefit cosmetics is good enough for me! I like almost all product of theirs, their fragrance, primer, gloss... If you're too lazy to pick a product from the very long list they have, then...

The blue one on the left !!!
Extortion!!! =D

Peace out!

Bears and Cheerleaders

Okay, so, that's another week down. Only 10 more working days, and I'm back to the free soul that I used to be after EOS. This entire week, I haven't been doing much work at work. Reason being, I'm too efficient and productive (I'd like to think that) and my boss has nothing for me to do. I've been bumming around in the office, tweeting a lot, haha. Sometimes, I would be too bored to just sit around and I would offer help to ANYONE at my department. Faxing, photocopying, printing documents, translating Chinese (this takes up the most time as my ability to interpret Chinese characters is deteriorating)...

Work, itself is boring. But I like the people I'm working with =) We talked about koalas and dropbears the other day, 'cause they saw me Google-ing the ugly pictures of dropbears.

-----------------------------------------------

Last Friday was the cheerleading competition for IMU Cup 2009. Hoo hoo hoo! This year, the budget for IMU Cup had been increased, so the committee has more money to ensure the cheerleaders' safety. SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT LONG AGO, MATE! Back in 2007, I watched it with Marcus, Sam, Karmen and TY (don't try to deny it), but we didn't watch the entire show as the DIAMONDS (representing M107) was the first to perform and that we had our dance class at 9pm that day. In 2008, I watched it with Kher Lik (he wasn't very pleased with the fact that he was assigned to control the sound system), Ada (she joined me after her performance), Sam and Karmen (she was with her boyfriend). This year, I watched it with Chloe.

I was given a free jersey, so yea, my support went to that team. GO DRACO!

Well, the crowd wasn't as cool as the ones from the previous years. Normally, the whole atrium would be flooded with supporters. But it was scarce this year.

The title of champion for the Cheerleading Competition itself went to Griffin!!!

They were awesome, and I would have won some money from the bet I had with Chloe if only I put my money down. Ishhh.

Peace out!

Safely escaped from a credit card fraud

Friday Friday Friday...
1st: it's always casual dress code at work, so I don't have to spend time in the morning deciding what to wear to look semi-professional.
2nd: the weekend is here, means I can wake up at whatever time that pleases me the next day.

My morning started off well, with me happily tweeting until 10 am. When I was about the start work after opening an Excel document, I received a phone call. There wasn't any caller ID, something like how overseas call or calls from Maxis would look like. The call was by a number 60320. Okay, obviously it's unknown.

An automated telebanker was saying, "Your recent credit card transaction of RM 3490 requires your approval to be transacted. Press 1 to approve, press 2 to talk to our operator, thank you." What the fuck? If I were to spend 4k, I would have been a happy, dead person (my mother would have killed me already). And when I spoke to the operator to clarify this, the lady said the call was made from Hong Leong Bank customer service. Again, what the fuck? I don't have any relation with this lousy bank. I use an International premeire bank okay, sucker!

The lady advised me to launch a report to Bank Negara and cancel off the card along with all the previous expenditure, which sums up to about RM 6000! At that moment, it seemed like the correct thing to do being panic and all. Somehow, the lady told me that she was going to transfer my call to the Bank Negara Emergency Hotline. Hmmm, can one just get transfered to Bank Negara like that? puzzled me... The so-called hotline was busy, so the lady said that someone would return my call. Thank God, my lousy temporary phone was being itself, lousy. The line was intermittently cut off, so I told the "Bank Negara" operator that I had to call back.

When I hung up the call, one of my colleagues suggested that it sounded like a scam, and that Bank Negara never make external calls for this purpose. Kevin is the nicest of all, he's always asking me to Facebook when I'm done with my work, always inviting me to lunch and dinners, talking to me when I'm bored =). I checked the official telephone number of Bank Negara online and it was the same with the scam hotline. Well, apparently, the syndicate is capable to making all these fake identities, what can I say, they're professional.

I was even planning to give Van's mum a call for help. But I didn't okay, Van, I know she's a busy lady and her secretary's useless in lightening her burden ;-p

Times like this, I call my dad for help, hehehe. I was told to ignore the call, as I didn't have any Hong Leong Bank account, so even if they use my details to apply for credit card, it's not my money they're spending. Another wise colleague asked me to confirm with Hong Leong Bank. Not surprised, they didn't have my name or details in the system. Great!

5 minutes later, the "Bank Negara" operator called me back 'cause I didn't return his call as I promised to. Well, let's just say that the call ended with unpleasant reaction of the operator when I told him repeatedly that I decided not to launch any report for this fraud. His "okay, bye!" confirmed that it was a scam =)

Later on, I was just to overwhelmed by this issue, hahaha. I couldn't do my work, neither could the others at the department. All of us just gathered around to analyse the situation. Well apparently, these syndicates have people in the bank approving the transaction even when there's no such person in the system. And when the authority starts to get suspicious with the transactions made by the card user, the syndicate will call up the real person (the unlucky me, in this case) and advise the person to cancel the card and all its transactions. Hmmm, so smart, both my colleague and the con man.

Oh well, what can I say, my week ended with a BANG! It's for me always complaining how boring my job is. At least I was surrounded by knowledgeable people when it happened. I'll know how to handle it when this happens again in the future.

Con me not, you evil credit card scam artists, I've learnt and shall be vigilant from now. Never will I sound panic to you, only you to me when you're surprised by my reaction. Hahahah.

Peace out!

of funny kids and parodies

I learned a lot about the teaching career in Malaysia today. I had lunch with the new part time worker who shares a cubicle with me at work. She who just graduated from her course in Chemistry education (I have no idea what is the formal title of the course) and is waiting for her government secondary school posting. Anyways, she told me about one of her posting experiences when she was the teaching assistant in a Form 4 chemistry class. A student tried to bribe her to obtain the examination paper.

Student: "I'll pay you if you can get me a copy of the paper."
Her: "No."
Student: "I can pay you more than what the government can."

Hahaha, funny. It actually sounds like something my dad would say, hehehe. Well, she told me she rejected the "offer", or maybe she had to 'cause she was under the supervision during her posting. I can't even remember her name, maybe she doesn't remember mine too.

----------------------------------

I never thought that I'll be a Twilight fan. Well, not that I'm a huge fan of it or the cast members, but I can't wait to watch The Twilight Saga: New Moon!!! November 27th...

Thanks to Vanessa, who always talked about the first movie, I actually watched it at her place, way after the movie was released last year. Vanessa is a special soul who loves watching movies repeatedly =p

I personally don't think that it was a superb movie, but it sure is one that I want to watch a couple of times to listen to the lines again =) I like one scene particularly. The part when Bella walks into the classroom and Edward covered his nose and looked disgusted. Van explained, it was because Bella had a special yummy scent to her blood, and that Edward could smell it. So he was trying to resist himself from sucking her blood!!! True true, but I like to interpret it as Bella's BO that got Edward to react that way, heheheh!!!

The MTV Movie Awards 2009 did an opening sketch which was a series of movie parodies. Slumdog Millionaire, Twilight... It was hilarious! Adam Samberg might not be a great actor, but he sure is a great comedian. The Twilight parody was really funny!!!

Van, I finally found this for you. This is a snip from the original clip.

I couldn't find the official video that MTV uploaded. It was taken down by MTV, odd. Here's the full video click click, it's the clearest of all already, sorry.

Anyways, another week is down! 15 more days to go =)
